BLOOD (RED) MOONS

Eclipses of the sun and the moon are well known.

Blood moons occur when the sunlight reaching the moon passes through an extensive and dense layer of the earth’s atmosphere; here it becomes scattered and the resulting light we see as red.

What is unusual is when a series of four Blood Moons (known as a tetrad) occur, consecutively within a 2-year period, 2 per year. When these coincide with Jewish feasts, major political events often occur to the Jewish People. The Jewish Festivals set by God in the Hebrew Scriptures, are based on a lunar cycles of 30 days. In the last 500 years there have been only three blood moon tetrads.

The first of these occurred in 1492, when the Jews were expelled from Spain. Columbus, on his second voyage, discovered America, which became a haven for Jews.

Israel was constituted as a nation after nearly 1,900 years on 14 May 1948. The surrounding Arab nations immediately declared war which did not stop until 1949. The tetrad Blood Moon occurred:

April 13, 1949: Passover begins

October 7, 1949: Feast of Tabernacles begins

April 2, 1950: Passover begins

September 26, 1950: Feast of Tabernacles begins

On June 10, 1967, during the Six-Day War, Jerusalem was recaptured.

April 24, 1967: Passover begins

October 18, 1967: Feast of Tabernacles begins

April 13, 1968: Passover begins

October 6, 1968: Feast of Tabernacles begins

This year Passover began on April 15, when the Blood Moon eclipse began. This tetrad cycle will culminate in the final Blood Moon eclipse on Feast of Tabernacles in September next year.

We await the outcome.  “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” (Luke 21:28) The prophecy of Joel 2;28-32, quoted on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:16-21 could well have a literal as well as symbolic significance.
